Jon W. Bayless was appointed City Administrator in June 1999. Prior to his appointment in Grand Ledge, he served as the City Manager for Garden City, Michigan, and as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Saginaw, Michigan. As the City Administrator for Grand Ledge his duties also include serving as the City’s budget officer and purchasing agent. In addition, Mr. Bayless also serves as the Airport Manager for Abrams Municipal Airport. He is licensed by the State of Michigan as an airport manager and is also licensed by the federal government as an instrument rated pilot.
Mr. Bayless serves on the board of the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority Insurance Pool, sits on the Michigan Municipal League Taxation and Finance Committee and is the Legislative Chair of the Michigan Association of Airport Executives. He is also a member of the board of the Grand Ledge Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Bayless received his Masters of Business Administration Degree from Illinois State University in 1978 with a concentration in finance and law. His Bachelors Degree is from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana.
