Regulations and Fees

The City of Grand Ledge enforces all applicable federal, state, county and local laws, as well as rules and regulations adopted by the City Council and the City’s various boards and commissions.

The City’s facilities and programs are supported, in part, by fees adopted by the City Council, and the City’s various boards and commissions.

Building Department

The City Council adopts the fees for services provided by the Building Department.

City Hall

The City Council adopts the fees charged for services provided at City Hall, including requests for information submitted under the Freedom of Information Act.

Grand Ledge Police Department

The City Council adopts the fees for public services provided by the Grand Ledge Police Department and for parking violations.

Oakwood Cemetery

The Board of Cemetery Trustees adopts the Oakwood Cemetery Rules to regulate the operation and administration of Oakwood Cemetery. It also adopts the fees for the purchase of burial and cremains plots in Oakwood Cemetery. The City Council adopts the operational fees for Oakwood Cemetery.

Parks and Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Commission adopts the Parks and Facilities Rules to regulate the use of the City’s parks and park facilities. It recommends the fees, adopted by the City Council, for renting parks and park facilities, and recreation programs.

Planning and Zoning

The Planning Commission adopts the Master Plan, a blueprint for the use of buildings and and property in the City. The City Council adopts the Zoning Ordinance regulating the use of buildings and property in the City. It also adopts the fees for services provided by the Zoning Administrator and for permits required by the Zoning Ordinance.

Public Services

The City Council adopts the fees for services provided by the Street, Water and Sewer departments, including the water and sewer usage rates.

Utility Billing

The City Council adopts rules for the dispute, and any subsequent appeal, of water/sewer bills. The Water and Sewer Disputes Committee and the Water Appeals Board are the governing bodies enforcing these rules. The City Council also adopts the fees for use of the City’s water and sewer utilities.
