The City Clerk conducts all federal, state, county, local, and special elections held within the City. All registered voters in the City vote at Sawdon School Administration Building, 220 Lamson St., Grand Ledge MI 48837. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for all elections. Anyone standing in line at 8:00 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
November 2, 2010 Election
A General Election will be held in all voting precincts of the City on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at which time candidates of the Republican Party, Democratic Party, Green Party, US Taxpayers Party, Libertarian Party, and Natural Law Party, and candidates without political party affiliation who seek election to the following partisan offices are to be voted for in the City:
- Governor and Lieutenant Governor
- Secretary of State
- Attorney General
- U.S. Representative in Congress 7th District
- State Senator 24th District
- State Representative 71st District
- Member of the State Board of Education
- Regent of the University of Michigan
- Trustee of Michigan State University
- Governor of Wayne State University
- County Commissioner
Candidates seeking election to the following nonpartisan offices are also to be voted for in the City at the November 2, 2010 General Election:
- Justice of Supreme Court
- Judge of Court of Appeals 3rd District
- Judge of Probate Court
- Judge of District Court 56A District
- Council member
The following proposals are also to be voted on in the City at the November 2, 2010 General Election:
- Proposal 10-1, a proposal to convene a constitutional convention for the purpose of drafting a general revision of the State Constitution.
- Proposal 10-2, a proposal to amend the State Constitution to prohibit certain felons from holding elective office and specified types of public employment positions.
- Eaton County Transportation Authority (EATRAN) Millage Authorization Question, summary language:
For the purpose of providing funds for the exclusive use of public transportation purposes, to include accommodation for the elderly and handicapped, by the Eaton County Transportation Authority (EATRAN). Shall the tax limitation and levy be increased in an amount not to exceed 0.7500 of a mill ($0.7500 on each $1,000 dollars of taxable value)?

In order to vote in the City at the November 2, 2010 General Election, you must register by 5:00 p.m., Monday, 04 October 2010. Registration forms are available at the City Clerk’s office, 200 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge MI 48837, at any Secretary of State Branch office, at the Eaton County Clerk’s office, 1045 Independence Blvd., Charlotte MI 48813, and online through the Secretary of State web site.
Photo Identification Requirement
Before you can vote on election day, you must provide photo identification. If you don’t have acceptable photo identification with you, you can still vote by signing an affidavit stating 1) you don’t have acceptable photo identification or 2) you have acceptable photo identification, but didn’t bring it to the polls.
Election Workers
If you are interested in working at an election, you may contact the City Clerk via email, at (517) 622-7920, or by visiting the City Clerk’s office, 200 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge MI 48837. In order to work at City of Grand Ledge elections, you must be at least sixteen years old, a resident of Eaton County and, for those eighteen and older, registered to vote. Full-time students must present authorization from their school, excusing them to work the election.
Permanent Absent Voter List
The City Clerk maintains a list of voters who request an absent voter ballot application be mailed to them for every election held in the City. Voters who wish to be placed on this list may indicate their request on any regular absent voter ballot application they have received from the City and return it to the City Clerk, 200 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge MI 48837.
